The Mysore Palace was the official residence of the rulers of Mysore ,"The Wodeyars "who ruled between 1399 - 1950 and the palace also includes the Durbar Malls .where royal ceremonies and meetings were conducted .
The Mysore Palace was Built by the honorable Maharaja Khrishnarajendra Wodeyar 4th , The Palace is built following Indo Sarcenic style of architecture which is a mixture of Hindu , Muslim , Rajput and Gothic styles.
The three-story stone building of fine gray granite with deep pink marble domes has a facade with several expensive arches and two smaller ones flanking the central arch, which is supported by tall pillars. Above the central arch is a sculpture of Gajalakshmi, the goddess of wealth, prosperity, good luck and abundance with her elephants. There are three major exclusive temple buildings within the Old Fort, and about 18 inside the palace heart building. The palace is the venue for the famous Mysore Dasara festival, during which leading artists perform on a stage set up in the palace grounds. On the tenth day of the festival Vijaya Dashami, a parade with caparisoned elephants and floats originate from the palace grounds.
The Mysore city is famously known as the " city of palaces" since the city is filled with palaces , there are about seven palaces in the city and the Mysore palace is the largest among them and it is the major source of tourist attraction in Mysore , It has more six million visitors annually which is second highest after Taj Mahal.
Mysore palace has many secret tunnels leading to Sri Rangapatnam and many other confidential places .
